Attractions and activities for kids and families
The reserve is particularly scenic. There are numerous walks throughout the area as well as three delightful picnic sites near the river and trout dams. There are also a number of self-guided trails, one of which is suitable for the handicapped. Wildlife in the reserve include reedbuck, mountain reedbuck, blesbok, black wildebeest, grey rhebuck, eland, red hartebeest and oribi. One of Kamberg’s highlights is the San Rock Art Interpretation Centre which runs spectacular DVD presentations on rock art. Trained guides are available to take visitors to Game Pass Shelter (3 hours walk), to see rock art paintings which have been described as the Rosetta Stone of ancient Rock Art. For more information please make enquiries at the camp office
Trout fishing is available in several dams (stocked regularly) which are open to anglers all year round. Anglers may only use the correct tackle and all anglers are required to pay a rod fee at the Camp office before they start fishing. Rods are available for hire from the camp office.
