Game reserve with holiday activities
Amatigulu Nature Reserve is situated in Northern KwaZulu-Natal and is one of the few places in Southern Africa where wildlife can be viewed feeding on forested dunes overlooking the sea. The Reserve is approximately 100 km from Durban and is one of the few places in Southern Africa where wildlife can be viewed feeding on forested dunes overlooking the sea. Visitors can indulge in a variety of game drives (4 X 4 required) and self-guided walks through the many vegetation types found in the reserve. The Coastal Forest grasslands and rivers attract much bird life, including the rare African fin foot, and populations of giraffe, zebra, water buck and smaller antelope. Other popular activities include canoeing on the Amatigulu Estuary and Nyoni River and easy access to the best surf angling beach.
h2 class="h2">Holiday accommodation for families & school camps
The education camp venue available for hire for schools and other interest groups. It has a room with four beds only, lights and a fridge. There are five camping sites that are situated for tents. These sites are situated in the vicinity of the Education Centre, and have ablutions with toilets and showers with cold and hot water. There is a communal kitchen where the campers can wash dishes.
Self-guided walks along trail that leads to the viewing platform.
